Our journey to date

As you may have noticed, we’ve already made great headway on our transformation – and guests are enjoying refreshed hotel rooms and enticing new  dining experiences. Here’s an overview of what parts of the project have been completed to date.

New look Atrium

New-look Atrium Bar

With its fresh new colour palette and eye-catching canopy of custom-designed feature lights, the Atrium bar has taken on a new look. Now, guests can grab a casual cocktail in a sophisticated setting that strikes just the right balance of openness and intimacy.

Mei Wei Dumplings

Designed by architecture and interior design firm Luchetti Krelle, Mei Wei Dumplings provides a contemporary take on the hawker lanes of Hong Kong. Guests can watch the chefs at work through a 2.6 metre viewing panel into the dumpling assembly area – the perfect way to whet the appetite! On the menu: over 50 unique options for dine-in or take away.

M&G Cafe and Bar

Making itself at home in the former Spinners area, M&G Café and Bar has been designed by Luchetti Krelle to complement the atrium area’s vibrant atmosphere. Natural textures and soft tones embrace the venue’s coastal setting, while the menu is brimming with tempting café-style fare. From morning coffees to evening drinks, M&G has you covered.

Outdoor Lighting Projection

Every night, The Star is illuminated by a new lighting display, which celebrates the Gold Coast’s stunning natural environment. Seventeen individual projectors combine to create this moving spectacle, making this one of Australia’s largest permanent outdoor projection systems.

Cucina Vivo

Opened in December 2014, Cucina Vivo was inspired by cliff-top restaurants along the Amalfi Coast – featuring an outdoor terrace, relaxed atmosphere and authentic Italian menu. Guests are encouraged to celebrate a complete dining experience as they’re welcomed into the theatre of the kitchen, which comes complete with a two-metre long wood-fired oven manned by our very own Pizzaiolo.

Kiyomi

Multi award-winning Japanese restaurant Kiyomi gained industry recognition just six months after opening – claiming a prestigious Chef’s Hat at the 2016 and 2017 Brisbane Times Good Food Guide Awards. With its cutting-edge Japanese fare and impressive drinks menu, Kiyomi has certainly taken fine dining up a notch – and even features a bespoke large-scale fluorescent UV art installation by Tokyo-based street artist Houxo Que aka Questa.

Porte-cochere lighting installation

Technology meets art in a dazzling display on our porte-cochère – where an innovative new lighting installation has become an attraction in its own right. Made up of over 10,500 lights, this intricate display illuminates our tropical palm trees to create a huge natural 3D digital screen. Certainly worth a visit just to witness it in action!

With a driveway turning circle for enhanced traffic flow, wheelchair ramps for easy access, outdoor bench seating, and stylish lawn furniture to relax on, it lends itself to a unique array of events and occasions.

Luxury Poolside Experience

In our tropical climate, the swimming pool will always be a popular spot – and now, there’s even more to love about our poolside experience. Along with new landscaping, we’ve integrated new bungalows and cabanas to provide an even greater comfort and luxury. These come equipped with exclusive amenities and refreshments, and can be hired for private use.

Exterior Building Refresh

There’s nothing like a fresh coat of paint to smarten things up. In our case, this was no small feat – in fact it took eight abseiling painters more than 8,000 hours to apply over 12,000 litres of ‘Grand Piano Quarter’ white paint.
