Sydney’s bustling Martin Place is home to a magic celestial ox, comprising hundreds of illuminated Mahjong tiles. Commonly played during festive seasons, the use of these tiles gives a playfulness and joy to this sturdy zodiac animal.
About The Artist
Tianli Zu was born in Beijing and now lives in Sydney. She has exhibited extensively in Australia and China and her work captures experiences of places and cultures through intuitive and metaphysical means.
The Ox lantern is brought to you by The Star and represents one of twelve spectacular lanterns illuminating Sydney's iconic locations as part of Sydney Chinese New Year Festival produced by City of Sydney.
