The Star Event Centre debuts new cinema screen for Australian movie premiere

The Star Event Centre hosted the Australian premiere of the much anticipated action sports film The Fourth Phase on Tuesday, 13 September, presented by Red Bull Media House; the first film premiere on the Event Centre’s new 20m x 8m cinema screen and ultra-high-definition cinema projector.

The emotionally powerful and visually stunning film told the story of iconic snowboarder Travis Rice and his journey around the North pacific, witnessing firsthand the many moods of the North Pacific storm engine. Ahead of its Australian theatrical release, ticket holders and VIP attendees were given the exclusive opportunity to watch the film on the new technically advanced Harkness Cinevision screen and Dolby certified multi-zoned surround sound at The Star Event Centre.

Melinda Madigan, General Manager of Marketing & Entertainment at The Star Sydney applauded the capabilities of the new cinema screen, which provides audiences with the best audio visual experience in Australia.

The Fourth Phase is the first sports film to be mastered in Dolby Vision™ and Dolby Atmos™, the most advanced image and sound technologies available. Plus the footage was captured entirely in 4K ultra-high-definition. With such high quality vision and sound on the line, the producers of the film, Red Bull Media House and Garage Entertainment, needed a venue capable of showcasing the film at its very best.

“The combination of our new Christie projector, the first projector of its kind capable of displaying premium 4k content for 2D and 3D films, the spectacular screen, and Dolby certified surround sound made the film premiere a completely immersive experience and ensured the film premiered to its full potential.

“Guests were blown away, as they were taken on Travis’ journey from untapped terrain in Wyoming’s backcountry, across the Pacific to the Japanese Alps, Russian volcanoes, and spectacularly remote areas of Alaska. The new technology delivered a brilliant audio visual experience for this film premiere,” concluded Ms Madigan.

Guests were welcomed in the Event Centre’s foyer, before proceeding to their seats or one of the four catered VIP suites in use for the premiere. Following the full screening of the documentary a Q&A session with star of the film Travis Rice was held.
