Published on 3 May 2017

The Star Event Centre has joined the illustrious ranks of Meetings & Events Australia’s (MEA) Hall of Fame after winning Best Specialty Event Venue for the third consecutive year at the National MEA Awards Dinner held last night in Sydney.

The win is evidence of The Star’s world-class venue, dedicated and experienced team, and cutting-edge technology and investment in the professional development of staff, all of which work together to deliver memorable and thrilling event experiences that exceed clients’ expectations.

Greg Hawkins, Managing Director at The Star Sydney commented on the wins, and expressed delight at the monumental achievement of entering the celebrated MEA Hall of Fame.

“We are thrilled to be recognised by our peers and receive this highly sought after industry accolade. This impressive achievement is the result of tireless work from an outstanding group of professionals who have delivered the pinnacle of excellence in meetings and events since the Event Centre opened in 2013.

“Whether it’s catering or AV, sales or event management and everything in-between – it is the hard work and passion of the team that has seen The Star Event Centre continue from strength to strength.

“We are honoured to enter the MEA Hall of Fame as the Best Specialty Event Venue in Australia, along with our win at the state awards for Best Technical & Creative Production - In-house AV Services. MEA also recognised our investment in the professional development of our team as a premier education provider for the industry.

Between 1 July 2015 and 30 September 2016, the state-of-the art Event Centre’s team of event and in-house AV professionals delivered over 174 events, including 75 banquet dinners, 25 conferences, 19 concerts and 15 cocktail events – a mammoth effort from everyone,” said Mr Hawkins.

Scott Bayne, Director of Events for The Star Sydney accepted the award on The Star’s behalf.

Recognising the most prestigious meetings and events accomplishments, the MEA Awards honour the achievement of excellence in a range of categories, while the Hall of Fame Award applies to members who win an award in the same category across three consecutive years.
