25 June 2020: Casino Open To Star Club Members

With increased capacity across our resort, we’re thrilled to welcome all Star Club Members back to The Star Sydney!l Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond Members are also welcome to bring a guest on their visit.

You’ll find a range of dining options now available across the resort. Selected areas on the Main Casino Floor have re-opened for you and a range of machines and tables are now operating. For further assistance, please feel free to visit the member desk in Oasis (located above Harvest Buffet on Level 2).

Your next visit
For social distancing, we’ve made some changes to the way you play. Only selected gaming machines will be operating, and seating at table games will be limited. Back betting will not be permitted. Please also be aware that at peak times, access to certain areas may be restricted due to capacity guidelines.

On your arrival
For the time being, access to the Main Casino Floor will be via the escalators from The Star Grand Foyer only. Access from the carpark will also only be via the escalators.

Committed to cleanliness
The Star Sydney is currently open daily from 10am-6am to allow for a four-hour comprehensive cleaning regime every day. We’ve increased our cleaning and sanitisation processes across the resort and put in place social distancing measures. We’re also encouraging all our guests to download the Australian Government’s COVIDSafe App.

Your safety and peace of mind
We’re working with Government and health authorities to continuously monitor the COVID-19 situation. The safety and wellbeing of our Members, guests and staff is our number one priority, and we have measures in place to ensure our venues are as safe and comfortable as possible for you.

Why has my Tier Points balance decreased during the closure?

To help support your Membership Status during this time, we have been gifting you Bonus Tier Points. Please see below for our update from 28 May.

 

Tier Points have continued to operate in the normal manner, as a rolling balance. This means that when you view your Tier Points balance, it will reflect Tier Points earned or gifted in the past 365 days, less Tier Points that have expired (which were earned the previous year).

 

The Tier Points that have been gifted to me are not as much as I would normally earn. Can you gift me more Tier Points?

I would like to have my Tier Review Date extended as I have not been able to visit and will not be able to maintain my Tier.

Unfortunately we are not able to change your Tier Review Date, however please see one of our service team at the time of your next Tier Review and we will undertake an individual review of your account.

17 JUNE 2020: Restricted opening of casino

As part of the NSW State Government’s latest easing of COVID-19 restrictions, some of our gaming areas are now open under limited capacity. At this stage, we will open a number of dining outlets and Private Gaming Rooms to Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond Members of The Star Club. Platinum and Diamond Members are also welcome to bring a guest on their visit. Unfortunately, due to reduced capacity to ensure both social distancing requirements and restaurant limits are adhered to, we are unable to welcome back all other Members and guests at this time.

30 MAY 2020: Restricted Opening of Casino

As part of the NSW State Government’s latest easing of COVID-19 restrictions, some of our gaming areas will begin to re-open under limited capacity from Monday, 1 June. At this stage, we will open a number of dining outlets and Private Gaming Rooms by invitation only to Members of The Star Club. Unfortunately, due to reduced capacity to ensure both social distancing requirements and restaurant limits are adhered to, we are unable to welcome back all Members and guests at this time.

 

Our new COVIDSafe Plan has been developed to ensure we have the measures in place to welcome all Members and guests back as soon as possible.

28 MAY 2020: IMPORTANT UPDATE ABOUT THE STAR CLUB MEMBERSHIP

Membership Status

In March we advised Members would receive Bonus Tier Points in April, May and June, and due to the ongoing impacts of COVID-19, this is now being extended and members will continue to receive Bonus Tier Points in July and August 2020.   

The number of Bonus Tier Points being gifted each month is based on the average monthly Tier Point earn required to reach your current Membership Tier annually and will change if your Tier changes.  

Members will continue to receive Bonus Tier Points each month. Bonus Tier Points will be added to member’s accounts on the first day of each month (in addition to any Tier Points you may earn).

Gold members can look forward to a staycation at The Star Grand Sydney from 24th June, using your Complimentary Hotel Nights or your Gold Member discount rate.

22 May 2020: BLACK Bar & Grill and The Darling re-opens

BLACK Bar & Grill has re-opened for a maximum of 10 guests in one sitting, all restaurant bookings must be made via the website. 

The Darling has re-opened for all guests to stay.

The Star Casino, bars and all other restaurants are still closed until further notice.

15 May 2020: Sokyo re-opens

Sokyo has re-opened for a maximum of 10 guests in one sitting. All bookings must be made via the website.

The Star Casino, bars and all other restaurants are still closed until further notice.

24 April 2020: Hotel Update

The Star Grand Hotel and Residences hotel rooms are currently still open for bookings. The only facilities available to guests of the hotel at this time is in-room dining between 7:00AM and 10:00PM. The casino and restaurants remain closed.

27 March 2020: Important information about The Star Club Membership

Membership Status   

We know that earning Tier Points and your Membership Status are important to you. We also know the current environment means you are unable to visit us. With this in mind, we are implementing measures to provide members with some assistance in the coming months around your Membership.

We will be gifting members Bonus Tier Points each month from April to June 2020. Bonus Tier Points will be added to member’s accounts on the first day of each month (in addition to any Tier Points you may earn).

27 March 2020: Sokyo Update

The health and wellbeing of guests and team members is our No.1 priority and during the COVID-19 situation we will keep you updated with important information.

 

As you will be aware, Sokyo restaurant has been closed since Monday morning as part of the government’s indoor venue restrictions.

 

On Thursday we were informed two members of our team at Sokyo had returned positive tests to coronavirus. They frequently socialise together outside of work and neither team member had shown symptoms or undergone testing before Sokyo’s closure.

 

We are now working with health authorities and will follow any guidance we receive.

 

Rest assured, anyone identified as having been in close contact with the team members and requiring self-isolation would be notified as soon as practicable.

26 March 2020: The Star Express Service is no longer running

The Star Express Bus service has ceased operation until further notice. We will keep you informed of any further changes.

23 March 2020: Important information about The Star Club Membership

Yesterday the Prime Minister announced further social distancing measures, including the closure of non-essential indoor venues effective midday today. 
 

In line with this, our casinos in Sydney, Gold Coast and Brisbane have closed (Monday 23rd March) until further notice. Our hotels remain open at this stage in line with current restrictions. Here is an update on The Star Club program for our Members:
 

Membership Status   

We know that earning Tier Points and your Tier Membership Status are important to you. We are currently reviewing this to ensure you are not disadvantaged. We will have an update for you as soon as possible. 
 

Casino Dollars Rewards 

We will pause the expiration of all Casino Dollars from today. Which means Casino Dollars Rewards will not expire before 31st July, 2020.  We will review this date if required.

23 March 2020: We Are Closed

The Star Sydney casino is now closed until further notice.

This follows social gathering restrictions announced by the Prime Minister on 22 March.

We will keep guests updated as we receive further information.

23 March 2020: Casino Promotions Cancelled And Postponed

The Star Sydney will be temporarily closed as we are unable to operate under the Government’s new social distancing requirements. 

Effective 23 March, all gaming promotions will be cancelled or postponed until further notice. We will advise of new promotion dates as soon as practically possible.

The Star will honour all entries earned up to the date of suspension, when our promotions resume. We will keep you informed of any further changes.

22 March 2020: Our Casino Is Closed

The Star Sydney casino will close tomorrow at 6am until further notice.

This follows the new social gathering restrictions announced tonight by the Prime Minister.

We will update you further tomorrow.

21 March 2020: Further Social Distancing Measures

The Government has made further announcements regarding indoor gathering and social distancing guidance.  
 
In accordance with this guidance we are introducing additional social distancing measures including: 

  1. Creating dedicated areas across the property that will hold a maximum of 100 people and meet the 4sqm per person requirement 
  2. Reducing capacity at table games to three guests per table (down from our previously implemented five guests per table) with no standing players permitted  
  3. Further restricting the number of guests across our food and beverage outlets


To allow for the above measures we have altered certain gaming spaces that will result in entry restrictions due to capacity. Team members will be available at our entry points to assist you.


These plans are in addition to those we have previously advised.  We will continue to update this announcement page with any further changes and we have also set up a hotline you can

access 24 hours-a-day - 1800 399 222.

21 March 2020: Poker Cancellation

Considering guidance on indoor gathering and social distancing from government and health authorities, we have cancelled all Poker until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we appreciate your understanding. 

 

21 March 2020: Bingo And Mahjong Cancellation

These are challenging times. We have taken a decision to cancel Bingo & Mahjong on a temporary basis while we consider its future operation.

18 March 2020: Proactive Measures

The Star Entertainment Group has today announced it will close its three casinos at a dedicated time each morning to allow for comprehensive cleaning procedures. 

 

The proactive measure has been taken as a further precautionary response to the ongoing COVID-19 situation and from tomorrow will see The Star Sydney close from 6am-10am daily.

 

The Prime Minister also advised earlier today that additional measures around social distancing are currently being developed by the States & Territories. The Star Entertainment Group is actively engaging with governments in NSW and Queensland and working through our specific position given our properties operate in a precinct fashion. The Star will adhere to any direct advice we receive from governments. 

18 March 2020: Casino Promotions Update

In the current environment, where both the community and business have been faced with challenges, The Star Sydney has decided to cancel Wristband Draws for 20 March to 9 May 2020,  effective 18 March 2020 and postponed Hook and Win and Golden Ticket Promotion until a later date.

17 March 2020: Safety And Wellbeing

The Star is working closely with government health departments and officials regarding the developing coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and we are following all regulations and recommendations from Australian authorities and the World Health Organisation. The safety and wellbeing of our Members and Guests, and our dedicated Team Members, continue as always to be our No.1 priority.

16 March 2020: Social Distancing Measures

SOCIAL DISTANCING MEASURES

The Prime Minister announced last week the cancellation of non-essential, organised public gatherings of more than 500 people and other social distancing guidelines in response to COVID-19. In line with those announcements, we have introduced the following social distancing measures:

  • deactivation of every second gaming machine and electronic table game to create additional distance
  • reducing the capacity at table games, including increasing distance at seated tables games between players and restricting the total number of players at each stand up table game
  • restricting the number of guests in individual food and beverage, banqueting and conferencing, and theatre facilities to under 500 persons with limited density for each outlet.

MAIN GAMING FLOOR MEASURES

Table games will be reduced to a maximum seating of five guests per table with no standing players permitted, only seated players will be permitted to wager. The craps, big wheel and sic bo (double-sided tables) will be the only exception with eight players permitted with social spacing to accommodate four players either end.

  • Only seated players may wager at a gaming table
  • Standing players will not be permitted to place a wager
  • Standing players will be asked to step back from gaming tables
  • Seats at gaming tables will be reduced to 5 with the remainder of chairs being removed from the gaming floor, this has commenced
  • Impacted games with 5 seats include Baccarat, Black Jack, Roulette, Pai Gow, Poker, Poker derivatives, and Sic Bo
  • Craps tables in all properties reduced to 8 betting positions, 4 positions available on each end

13 March 2020: Hygienic Measures

Given the World Health Organisation’s pandemic announcement, it’s time to outline the precautionary measures we are taking to best deliver an environment that you can visit and feel comfortable.

Ongoing vigilance around personal hygiene and cleaning standards remains key. We have significantly increased the frequency and detail of our already best practice cleaning procedures.

This involves an even sharper focus on sanitisation of bathrooms, touchpoints around properties – from door handles, handrails to ATM and lift buttons – and even more thorough cleaning of hotel rooms including phones and remote controls.

As part of our precautionary measures, we’ve also restricted non-essential work-related air travel for staff until further notice.

Visible reminders will be placed for all Guests and Team Members to regularly wash hands with soap and water or hand sanitiser, and request people to avoid touching their faces.
