As proud and long-term supporters of these charities, The Star Gold Coast’s inaugural charity fundraiser lunch aims to raise further funds and awareness for these wonderful causes.

Held during Cancer Council’s National Skin Cancer Action Week, come along to hear about the outstanding work each charity is delivering through an insightful panel discussion with representatives from each organisation, plus purchase raffle tickets to win some incredible prizes through the charities’ exciting fundraising raffle draw – all the while helping yourself to a spectacular seafood buffet featuring Australia’s best local produce.

Profits from the event will go directly to the three charities.

CANCER COUNCIL QUEENSLAND:

One Queenslander will be diagnosed with cancer every 20 minutes. Since 1995, our ongoing partnership with Cancer Council Queensland has supported its mission to improving the quality of life for people living with cancer – through research, patient care, prevention, and early detection.

Over the past 20+ years, The Star Gold Coast has hosted a variety of fundraising and awareness-building initiatives for the charity including Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, Daffodil Day, and Pink Month. Our talented culinary team have added their personal touch to these events by creating spectacular hand-made gourmet displays including a chocolate tractor masterpiece.
 

Cancer Council Queensland’s employees, volunteers, and supporters are at the heart of its work – driving its vision for a cancer-free future. It was established in 1961 as the Queensland Cancer Fund, in response to an increasing need for cancer-related services across the state. In 2019, it is celebrating 58 years of supporting Queenslanders affected by cancer.

CURRUMBIN WILDLIFE HOSPITAL FOUNDATION:

Since 2015, our ongoing partnership with the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital Foundation has helped support its vision to raise vital awareness and funds for the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital. This incredibly busy hospital treats, rehabilitates, and releases sick, injured, and orphaned native wildlife. Our partnership has included supporting the organisation’s signature ‘Benefit Under the Stars’ annual fundraising event, providing much-needed warmth to the animals during winter by donating hundreds of blankets to the hospital, and additional support opportunities throughout the year.

GOLD COAST HOSPITAL FOUNDATION:

Since 2014, our ongoing partnership with the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation has supported its mission to help the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service provide the very best in health care facilities, health education, and medical treatment. Our support has helped more than 40,000 staff, patients, and their families to date.

During the past five years, we have worked with the Foundation by supporting its cancer patient transport service, awarding scholarships to nurses and midwives, and donating critical equipment for training and development of local health professionals.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much money from my ticket purchase will go towards the three nominated charities?
$110 from each individual ticket purchase and $880 from each table purchase will be split equally and go towards the three charities.

Do you have any accommodation offers for ‘Help yourself to help others’ attendees?
Yes! We are pleased to offer a special 25% discount off the best available rate for Superior Deluxe, Corner Balcony Deluxe, or Executive Deluxe rooms for all guests of the ‘Help yourself to help others’ lunch. For accommodation enquiries and bookings, please call reservations on 1800 074 344 and quote 'HELP’ to be eligible for the discount.

What time does the event start and end?
Registrations for the event will commence at 11.30am with formalities commencing at 12.00pm. The event will conclude at 2.00pm.

What is the dress code?
Smart casual attire.

Can we bring guests under 18 years old?
This event is being held in Harvest Buffet, and is open to guests under 18 years of age who are accompanied by an adult.

What if I would like to increase my booking guest numbers?
Provided availability permits at the time of your request, we can certainly increase your guest numbers. Availability cannot be guaranteed until such time the additional tickets are confirmed. Your confirmation payment will be adjusted to include your increased numbers.

What if I need to decrease my booking guest numbers?
We can certainly reduce your final payment to match decreased guest numbers. Please note that we are unable to provide any refunds e.g. in the case of numbers dropping to less than half of the original booking.

What if I have special dietary requirements?
The Star Gold Coast is pleased to cater for all special dietary requirements, these will be requested upon issuing the final invoice for your booking, please list any allergies/dietaries at this time. At the event, our chefs will guide guests through the buffet to ensure all dietary requirements are met.

Will you have gluten free, lactose free and/or vegan options available from the buffet?
We will always have these options available for our guests. However, please still note this in your dietary requirements so that we know how many dietaries we are required to cater for.

Can you reduce my ticket price if I don’t drink alcohol?
As this is a flat ticketed price we are unable to alter or remove any part of the package.

What beverages are included in the ticket price?
As part of the ticket price, a selection of red wines, white wines, sparkling wines, beers, cider, soft drinks and juices will be provided throughout the entire event.

Can I purchase spirits at the event?
Certainly! Please advise your wait staff at the event and they can assist with organising a spirits drink at your own additional cost.

How much does parking cost?
The Star Gold Coast has five levels of complimentary self-parking with valet parking available at $50 per 24HR period.

Do you have wheelchair access?
We do have wheelchair access throughout The Star Gold Coast, including Harvest Buffet. However, please note this in your seating preferences as we will try to seat you at an easily accessible table.

What is the latest date I can cancel a ticket/booking?
All payments are non-refundable, we are unable to compensate full cancellations. However, if your numbers are less than originally expected we can alter your final payment to match your decreased group numbers.

Can I receive a full refund if I cancel my booking?
No refunds will be provided for booking cancellations, all payments received are non-refundable. If a person under the booking is unable to attend the event you are welcome to allocate the ticket to another person.

Booking cancellations must be made at least 72 hours prior to the event. No refund will be provided to no-shows or cancellations made within 72 hours prior to the event. Booking cancellations made after the event is sold out will not be refunded. The Star practises the responsible service of alcohol.
