Public Notice – Proposed Special Live Music Events Pilot Program

As part of our continued transformation into a world-class integrated resort, The Star Gold Coast is proposing to trial an exciting new program of special live music events across the various venues at The Star.

A pilot program of 15 special live music events is proposed over the course of 2022/23, in addition to the ordinary operation of The Star Gold Coast. The pilot program will provide the opportunity for The Star to support talented Gold Coast musicians and bring major performing artists to the city to perform in a variety of venues at The Star Gold Coast.

The program provides an excellent opportunity to increase the level of activation and breadth of experiences available to guests of The Star. It will also directly support the objectives of the City of Gold Coast as set out in its Music Action Plan 2021 – including its vision that the community of the Gold Coast, and visitors to the city, have easy access to world-class music that brings economic, cultural and social benefits to everyone and that live music is an industry which provides opportunities to develop sustainable career pathways whilst participants continue to live in the city.

The operation of The Star Gold Coast, including the proposed program, is regulated by the Queensland Government pursuant to the Jupiters Casino Agreement Act 1983 and other relevant state legislation which ensure that, amongst other things, the operation of The Star Gold Coast is not unreasonable and does not cause undue nuisance on nearby residential areas.

The Star has worked with a team of technical experts to develop a specific noise management plan and supporting operational procedures which are proposed to be implemented as part of the program and that will ensure that The Star continues to both be a good neighbour and meet its legal obligations.

The next stage in preparing the proposed program for implementation is to undertake community consultation to ensure that interested parties can learn more and contribute perspectives or suggestions for consideration by the project team and the Queensland Government as part of its assessment of the proposed program.

You are now invited to submit requests for additional information or submissions in relation to the proposed pilot program for consideration during this consultation period. The consultation period runs from 7 March 2022 until 25 March 2022 inclusive.

You are also invited to register your interest in attending a Technical Information Session at The Star Gold Coast on Saturday 19 March 2022 at 10am if you would like the opportunity to speak directly to The Star Gold Coast or its team of technical experts in relation to the proposal.

You can request further information, make your submission or register your interest in attending the Technical Information Session by email at goldcoast@urbis.com.au or by telephone on (07) 5600 4901.
