Welcome to The Star
Sydney's new one-of-a-kind leisure and entertainment venue, The Star, was unveiled during a glittering ceremony on Thursday, 15 September 2011.
The $870-million transformation of Star City includes the reorientation of the building to embrace Sydney Harbour and the city skyline. The Star boasts more than 20 restaurants, bars and cafes, a new luxury boutique hotel, The Darling, a 16-room spa, upscale retail collection and world class gaming areas. An international nightclub will be opened later in 2012 while a 4000-capacity events and entertainment centre will be unveiled in early 2013.
Making the most of stunning views of the harbour and city, leading Melbourne chef Teage Ezard made his Sydney debut with his modern steak and seafood restaurant
BLACK by ezard, while Stefano Manfredi made his much anticipated return to Sydney, cooking modern Milanese cuisine at
Balla.
The phased launch of The Star continued in October when David Chang, chef and owner of New York's Momofuku, introduced his two-Michelin star Korean dining in the form of
Momofuku Seiōbo, while Chase Kojima from the famed Nobu group opened a contemporary Japanese restaurant,
Sokyo.
Completing The Star's culinary picture, iconic Chinese restaurateurs Eric and Linda Wong will be opening their Sydney institution
Golden Century in 2012 while Adriano Zumbo has created his famous macarons, and
Flying Fish & Chips sees Peter Kuruvita join The Star culinary stable.
For those looking to make a night of it The Star offers guests the choice of a deluxe cocktail lounge,
Cherry, with a gorgeous skyline backdrop, or a live music venue,
Rock Lily, hosting Australian and overseas acts in an intimate performance setting and offering the world’s most sought-after tequilas.
A key feature of the redevelopment and extension of The Star is
The Darling, Sydney's newest 5-star hotel which offers 171 stylish and spacious rooms and suites with views to the city skyline and harbour.
The ultimate in boutique lifestyle accommodation, The Darling opened in October 2011 along with a stand-alone luxury
day spa with 16 private rooms.
A new
upscale retail space includes a number of leading luxury fashion brands such as Chanel Fragrance & Beauty Boutique, Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo and Bottega Veneta.

Other venues scheduled to open in early 2012 and 2013 include an international nightclub and a $100-million
events centre which will be able to host A-list performers in intimate concert settings, conferences, exhibitions and 1500-seat banquet functions.
