We' re proud to announce our continuing partnership with The City of Sydney’s Chinese New Year Festival – the largest Lunar New Year celebration outside Asia. The festival celebrates Sydney’s rich Asian culture and will run from 13 February to 1 March.
The city will be buzzing with exciting Chinese New Year events including the inaugural Lunar Markets at Pyrmont Bay Park, Lunar Feasts and spectacular daily performances at The Star. Jeff Chang will also be performing his love ballads at The Star Event Centre.

Sky Terrace

During Chinese New Year, Sky Terrace will open every day, with music and entertainment. Watch the sun go down at Sky Terrace, with panoramic views of the city skyline and harbour, we’ll be serving up delicious drinks and food specials.

    ​Known as the "Prince of Love Ballads" in the Asian pop world, Jeff Chang successfully toured in many cities around the world, Jeff will be coming to Sydney with his "LOVE*LIGHT YEAR" concert to deliver his classic and new love songs.

    Fat Noodle is celebrating their 5th birthday this Chinese New Year, with menu options ranging from $20, choose from pork ribs, salmon sashimi and ribs, or salmon, ribs and ricecake.

    ​During Chinese New Year (12-22 January) Sky Terrace will be open every day. Enjoy a sunset cocktail or two, maybe a boutique brew and choose from a delicious menu while live DJs provide the perfect soundscape to the panoramic views over the harbour and city skyline.

    Lunar Markets

    ​Celebrate Chinese New Year at the inaugural Sydney Morning Herald Lunar Markets presented by The Star. This eleven day festival, held across the road at Pyrmont Bay Park will celebrate Asian cuisine and culture. After your visit pop into Sky Terrace for cocktails, live entertainment and harbour views.

    ​Whether it’s a dramatic duo lion dance, the sounds of traditional Chinese musicians, the brilliant colours of the ribbon dance, or the artistic talents of our calligrapher and speed portrait artist, The Star has something to entertain you this Chinese New Year.

    Dragon Boat Race

    ​Come cheer on The Star in the annual Dragon Boat Race. For more than 2,000 years, Dragon Boat racing has had a special place in Chinese culture, with 12-metre long boats battling it out to the pounding of drums.
